About
Why we built this
Speech therapy works. There is just nowhere near enough of it. Waiting lists run six to twelve months, sessions are brief and costly, and the progress made in the room fades before the next one.
Verbalyft is built for the days in between — practice a child will actually do, and a record their therapist can actually use.

What it will not do
The constraints are the product. Each of these is something we were asked for and turned down.
No machine ever marks a child wrong
Speech recognition reports only that a sound happened. The grown-up decides it counted. A five-year-old told “incorrect” by a tablet stops trying, and the microphone is not good enough to be right about a child with a speech delay anyway.
No score is shown to the child
No percentages, no failure states, and nothing engineered to keep a child on the app longer than the session needs.
No number we cannot back
A metric without enough evidence reads “not measured yet” and says how many more turns it needs. There is deliberately no blended score — a single number would imply a validated instrument that does not exist behind it.
It does not replace a therapist
Verbalyft complements the work of licensed speech-language pathologists. It is practice between sessions, and a way for a therapist to assign and read that practice.
