Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment
Verbalyft is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We believe that every child deserves access to quality speech therapy support, and that the tools used by parents and therapists should be usable by everyone.
Standards We Follow
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including:
- Visual impairments (low vision, color blindness, blindness)
- Hearing impairments
- Motor impairments
- Cognitive and learning disabilities
What We've Implemented
- Keyboard navigation: Core functionality can be operated using a keyboard alone.
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and ARIA attributes to support screen readers.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet minimum contrast ratios for readability.
- Responsive design: The platform adapts to various screen sizes, zoom levels, and orientations.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus states help keyboard users track their position on the page.
- Alt text and labels: Images and interactive elements include descriptive text for assistive technology.
- Large touch targets: Child-facing interfaces use large buttons and tap areas suitable for developing motor skills.
- Reduced motion: Animations respect the user's prefers-reduced-motion system setting.
Child-Specific Considerations
Because Verbalyft serves children — many of whom have neurodevelopmental conditions — we pay special attention to:
- Simple, consistent navigation patterns that children can learn quickly.
- Visual cues (icons, colors, avatars) that supplement text-based information.
- Audio feedback and text-to-speech support for children who are still learning to read.
- Avoidance of flashing content, overwhelming animations, or sensory overload.
- Calm color palettes and clear visual hierarchy to support focus.
Known Limitations
We are continuously improving accessibility and acknowledge that some areas are still in progress:
- Some data visualizations in the therapist dashboard may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working on adding data tables as alternatives.
- The speech practice feature requires a microphone and browser speech recognition support, which may not be available in all assistive technology configurations.
- AI-generated content is reviewed for safety but may occasionally lack optimal semantic structure.
